My journey as a Personal Growth & Wellbeing Coach started over 20 years ago when I was working in education. As an experienced teacher with proven results, I coached newly qualified teachers for many years through the initial stages of their careers. I still love coaching teachers today, from various stages of their careers, to help them achieve their goals and create the work, life and family balance they’re looking for.
It was in my position as Head of PSHE that I began to explore coaching concepts
Personal, Social and Health education is one of those key areas that can influence so much of a child’s time and experiences at school but can’t be ‘taught’ in the same way as other curriculum areas. That’s why I decided to explore ways of using powerful coaching concepts and other techniques to improve the emotional intelligence and overall well-being of the students at my school.
I found that all too often children would feel isolated and alone with the problems they were facing, both in school and their personal lives. Children are often battling low self-esteem, anxiety, body image issues, academic pressure and much more. Being afraid that nobody would understand their problems and confused on how to handle these challenges, many children suffer in silence. Ultimately, this leads to feelings of overwhelm and being paralysed by stress.
